Shirley Park Podiatry & Chiropody Practice
Based in Croydon, we are an independent Podiatry and Chiropody practice and all Podiatrists are Members
of the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists and are Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered. The practice
has been Accredited by the Society of Chiropodists & Podiatrists. This means that
a set standard must be achieved by the Practice.
The practice was established in 1976 by Cathy Richardson, and has grown in size
gradually since that time. Although practice accreditation only started in 2006 we have already achieved this for the fourth time. Each Accreditation lasts for two years. We cover Croydon, Beckenham, West Wickham, Shirley, Selsdon, South Norwood, Addiscombe, Sanderstead, Purley, Warlingham, South Croydon, Bromley, Biggin Hill and Thornton Heath. We are a busy practice focused on advising and
treating a wide range of conditions. We take pride in our Podiatry treatment, and want
to make your visit a pleasant experience.
The surgery is modern, comfortable and well-equipped. We offer a friendly service
at all times, and the surgery always has a receptionist on duty to look after you.
The practice has registered with the Data Protection Act. The contents of your medical
records will be kept strictly confidential; and your privacy will be respected at all
times.
Contamination control is essential to the safety of our patients. The practice
follows recommended guidelines with regard to the sterilisation of instruments.
The term 'Podiatrist' is a relatively new word and title which replaces the word
'Chiropodist'. The title more accurately describes our profession. However both titles
are still in common use, and are now protected in law to safeguard the public.
Your
Chiropodist / Podiatrist
will have undertaken a full-time three year professional
training, which ended with Membership of the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists
and State Registration on the Council for Professions supplementary to Medicine. The
latter organisation was replaced with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
State Registered
Chiropodist as a title has been replaced with HCPC registered. It is a requirement of the HCPC that all Podiatrists undertake annual Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to maintain their registration.
